May has seen the first of our exciting new classes and workshops start up on Skye as part of our year-long community arts programme.
In Broadford, we have a weekly Art Therapy Group Session at An Acarsaid Carehome, led by art therapist Gail McGregor. The activities the group has covered so far have included creating a flower or garden, art therapy to music and ‘These are a few of my favourite things’.
We have also begun our series of Movement for Health classes with dance teacher, Meena Watts. She blends her rich knowledge of Bollywood Dance with Scottish music and funky beats to make for a fun and invigorating class for older people at Bùdhmòr Care-home in Portree.
In July, we have more classes planned including a Dance for Fun class in Kyleakin Hall during the summer holidays. This class will be open to all ages and abilities. Keep your eyes peeled for more details!
Tha Seo Math Dhuibh – Good for You also launched our Subsidised Ticketing Scheme this month. Two groups of young people from Skye Youth Drop-in attended film screenings at Aros, accompanied by their leader, Lesley Hellon. They watched Boss Baby and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It looks like they had a great time!
