Aros delivers innovative creative learning programmes and community outreach projects all year round. Whether it is providing a child with an opportunity to learn an instrument, or improving the quality of life in a care home through art and movement, Aros’ work has a positive and lasting effect on everyone involved.
Tha Seo Math Dhuibh – Good for You is a year-long community arts-based programme. The target of the programme is to grow audiences by improving access and participation in the arts. A strong focus of the project is to make activities inclusive and accessible to people of all ages and abilities as well as boosting health and well-being. The project allows for new initiatives to be established and will provide employment opportunities and specialist training for artists. Find out more
Community Education Programme
Aros organises events and projects aimed specifically at primary and secondary schools. We also offer unique music education workshops, which aim to inspire young people and shape their aspirations for the future.
Stories, Stones and Bones is a community education programme that is currently delivering a range of activities into schools sharing local traditions, culture, and history. The project engages primary school aged children with historians, artists and archaeologists who lead field trips exploring the world class archaeology and historical sites of north Skye. The children engage with artists, poets and writers in class-room activities to create their own interpretations of the their newly discovered knowledge. Their completed works will be presented to the local historical group, in a booklet and community exhibition at the project’s conclusion.
