| Description | Alistair McCulloch is one of the busiest and best-known fiddlers in Scotland and is in constant demand as a performer, teacher, adjudicator and composer. As well as having a highly successful solo career, Alistair is leader of the band ‘Coila’ and for several years was a soloist with the renowned Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. He has performed in some of the UK’s major concert halls, including The Royal Albert Hall, Earl’s Court and the Barbican in London, Ulster Hall, Belfast, Usher Hall, Edinburgh, York Barbican, Birmingham Town Hall and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Alistair has toured extensively in recent years and broadcasts regularly on BBC radio and has made numerous appearances on television. This year Alistair has performed at Celtic Connections, The Shetland Festival, Fiddle 2007, Speyfest the Neil Gow Festival and in August was invited to perform for the queen at Balmoral. Marc Duff is undoubtedly one of the finest whistle players in Europe and is best known as a former member of supergroup, ‘Capercaille’ which has sold well over one million albums worldwide. Nowadays Marc tours with various groups including Fred Morrison’s ‘Ceolas’ and Fred Freeman’s ‘Burns Ensemble’. He has recorded with countless artistes including ‘Fish’ and ‘Dick Gaughan’ Marc’s unique style of whistle playing has influenced many younger players and he is regularly asked to give recitals and workshops throughout the country. He works widely as a whistle and bodhran tutor. Aaron Jones has toured in the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe with countless artists and groups and has made numerous TV and Radio appearances worldwide. In 2005 Aaron was voted ‘instrumentalist of the year’ at the Scottish Folk awards. As well as playing with Old Blind Dogs, Aaron is currently touring as part of a duo with Claire Mann with whom he released a debut duo CD entitled ‘Secret Orders’ to great critical acclaim on their own record label. |
