'Club Tromolo'
15 April 2008 at 19:30
Open on Tuesday

Venue Talla Shomhairle @ Aros
Category CABARET AND MUSIC
Description

Club Tromolo is an evening of wonky cabaret, music and dancing. The List has dubbed it 'The most original club night in years'. The night comprises an hour and a half of cabaret including acts such as eccentric trombone-playing toff, Sir Clifton Sainsbury, who amazes with his cabaret within a cabaret including his recital of horror theme tunes on trombone; Mystic Martin and Suzie Sparkle - Ullapool's answer to Siegfried and Roy; Miss Leggy P charms her audience with easy listening classics and fashion circa 1933 and The Flying Frumpingtons - the only static acrobat troupe to tour Britain. The cabaret is hosted by Frank Percy OBE who got lost in Glasgow on a day trip from Macclesfield and decided to start the night off with his contacts in the ferret juggling world. The audience are greeted by characters like foul mouthed usherette Deardrie who hands out essential gifts and during the course of the night the audience may mingle with the likes of the Govan Seer (a psychic from Govan), Lord and Lady Overbite (and get a tour around the worlds smallest stately home) and Jazzbadger (a badger who plays jazz).

After the cabaret, Glasgow band Quinn play a half hour set. According to Scotland On Sunday they might be "Glasgow's greatest band". They were the subject of an audio diary for Radio 4's Home Truths after having a surprise top ten hit in the Balkans. Since the release of their album 'Luss' last year, the band have appeared on BBC2 Scotland's The Music Show, received accolades and radio play from the likes of Whispering Bob Harris (Radio 2), Rob Da Bank (Radio 1), Charis Blythe (The Selector) and Vic Galloway (Radio Scotland) amongst others. This year sees the release of their album 'Sun, Moon, Star' which is hotly tipped...

And....now with extremely special guests: 'INJUNS'

This show will appeal to anyone between the age of 18 and 110.

Cost Tickets £12 and £10
